Humility

I read this in another blog and I dont even remember where. It was a saying going like this "Dont be so humble, you are not that great yet." I am not sure the logics in it are perfect but it is interesting indeed. I d like to comment on it by rephrasing it a bit "Dont pretend to be so humble, you are not that great yet". :D I think this settles the logic in it. :))

Here are some more cool quotes I found:

"Common looking people are the best in the world: that is the reason the Lord makes so many of them."
Abraham Lincoln

"No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong."
Albert Einstein

"It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err."
Mahatma Ghandi

The second quote is the most relevant of all..at least for me. ;)

We are kindred souls, in terms of programming / computer science. Would have loved to read your Internet Security Site in English.

But then I've always held in high regard anything written in Greek, though I can't understand them. You can call me a pseudo-heliophile, I guess.

Btw, thank you for the very kind comment on my blog. I really appreciate it.

:) Its nice to read your comment here as well!

I like Einsteins quote too, I cant judge him as a scientist but as a philosopher, he is brilliant.

Actually I m working on an english translation so maybe soon you can read it. ;)

Regarding Humility-I am not so sure it matters when it comes to living through the ravages and rampages of life don't you think? Especially when you are hanging by a thread and hope is nowhere to be found. These are the times and there have been many when I operated on false pretense because it was necessary. For example here are other sayings that speak to this and at times, I have lived by: "Fake it till you make it" or "you've got to think well of yourself because no one else does" How about "I used to live alone till I got a divorce! False pretenses that give hope may be necessary in the face of what is logical:)

Btw, Thank you for visiting my blog too..your kind comments felt supportive!

Thanks miles to go for your nice and interesting comment as well. This subject is very interesting.

I used to think humility is a virtue but thats really not what everyone else in this world thinks. People unfortunately like to listen to big words even if that does not correspond to the reality. Say for a job interview, act clever and they ll take you, act "humble" and they ll think you dont have the qualifications.

I am also on the process of learning to pretend when socializing with such people. Its all marketing and public relations in this world. The essence is almost lost.

I like to believe that true humility does not mean no selfrespect or no selfconfidence. Because some people believe that having a minority complex means one is humble. :D
